Kanaa Kandenadi
Whenever we see Indians in US, we feel very happy and we just smile at each other. We feel like conversing in our own language but we cannot do, because most of the time even though we belong to the same country that person don’t know my language and vice versa. I can only talk to that Indian in English, which is the same language I use talking to an American. In United States of America, if a person is moving from east coast to west coast he is not going to feel much of a difference. Enna time difference irukkum, climate change irukkum avlodhaane??? Am not able to think of anything else. But in India, people in north are scared to come to south and south indiansku north pakkam poga bayam....”Ellaam baya mayam”...The reason is they feel they are totally at a new place.....they are not familiar with most of the things, the language is different, eating habits are different, culture is different. Enna US madhiri time zone differenta irukkaadhu....But other than that everything is different. Leave north and south, a person from Karnataka will feel totally odd when he is in Tamilnadu. With Bus conductors and auto drivers, we cannot manage if we speak in english.
In my last blog “Appo Ikkare Ippo Akkare” I have mentioned that when I was asked to come to US, I left everything and came happily, the reason is I can survive in this place because I know the language they speak here…but if I have been asked to move to some state in India, say Meghalaya or West Bengal, I don’t think I would have done that.
All this is coz we dont have a common language in India. Summa perukku we have Hindi as the National langugage, but how many of us know hindi??? What is the use of having a language as a national language which many people dont understand??? If Hindi is the national language, make Hindi as a compulsory language, make every Indian learn Hindi. For this we need support from ‘Kudimagans’ of each state, they should leave there superiority complex, be United and make this mission possible.
I am dreaming about “United States of India”, Dr. Kalam Sir, will you make my dream come true??

well said. But it cannot be achieved in our lifetime. But, it is not impossible.
Nice thought....but I really feel in democracy.. nothing can ever be forced.. dont think knowing having a common language is going to help much..
'esperanto' experiment didnt work either...
